The Constitutional President of the Republic declared of public interest the access to medicines used for the treatment of diseases affecting the Ecuadorian population.

Through Decree No. 118, published in Official Gazette No. 67 of November 16, 2009, the Constitutional President of the Republic declared of public interest the access to medicines used for the treatment of diseases affecting the Ecuadorian population, so that compulsory licenses may be granted on patents for human use medicaments.
