Case Salvador Chiriboga against the Republic of Ecuador, Inter-American Court of Human Rights
Doctors Alejandro Ponce Martínez and Alejandro Ponce Villacís, partners of our firm, represented the victim in the case Salvador Chiriboga against the Republic of Ecuador before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, whose sentence was rendered on May 6, 2008. This resolution was favorable for the victim and declared that the Ecuadorian State violated the private property and due process rights. This is the first case in the continent in which the Inter-American Court rules on the scope of expropriation in the field of human rights.

Alejandro Ponce Villacís
From the beginning of his professional career, he has looked upon law as a means to satisfy the need for order in society. Accordingly, despite his skill as a trial lawyer, he has achieved important agreements in large and complex cases and thereby satisfied his clients’ needs. As a lawyer he works in litigation. Throughout his career, he hasn’t shied away from defending difficult causes which have in turn had a profound effect on the development of law. Accordingly, after almost two decades of professional practice, he is considered one of the few experts on complex litigation in Ecuador.
