In the arbitration case filed by Chevron Corporation and Texaco Petroleum Company against the Ecuadorian State for the violation of the Bilateral Investment Treatment subscribed between Ecuador and the United States of America, from April 20 through April 28, 2009 it took place the hearing on the merits in Washington, D.C.

Chevron Coproration and Texaco Petroleum Compañy vs. Republic of Ecuador
In the arbitration process, under regulations of CNUDMI (UNCITRAL) brought by Chevron Corporation and Texaco Petroleum Company against the Republic of Ecuador by violation of the Investment Bilateral Treaty celebrated between Ecuador and United States of America, by denial of justice, on March 30, 2010 it was issued the partial decision in favor of our clients Chevron Corporation and Texaco Petroleum Company.
Cristo de Miravalle Foundation
After more than seven years of existence and operation of Cristo de Miravalle Foundation and Cristo de Miravalle Child Development Center, once conclude the revision recourse filed before the Economic and Social Inclusion Minister, Jeannette Sánchez Zurita, through Ministerial Resolution No. 00347, of December 17, 2008, article 2, the following has been resolved:
“To recognize the legal existence of Cristo de Miravalle Foundation since September 29, 2000 in view of the administrative silence incurred by the Social Welfare Ministry, now Economic and Social Inclusion Ministry”.
Case Suárez Rosero against the Republic of Ecuador resolved by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights
Case Suárez Rosero against the Republic of Ecuador, resolved by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, was the first case against Ecuador before said Court filed in November 12, 1997.

Case Salvador Chiriboga against the Republic of Ecuador, Inter-American Court of Human Rights
Doctors Alejandro Ponce Martínez and Alejandro Ponce Villacís, partners of our firm, represented the victim in the case Salvador Chiriboga against the Republic of Ecuador before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, whose sentence was rendered on May 6, 2008. This resolution was favorable for the victim and declared that the Ecuadorian State violated the private property and due process rights. This is the first case in the continent in which the Inter-American Court rules on the scope of expropriation in the field of human rights.
City Oriente against the Ecuadorian State
Our Firm represented City Oriente in the arbitration case filed against the Ecuadorian State, based on the Bilateral Investment Treatment subscribed with the United States of America, for the breach of contract of exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons, by virtue of the enactment of the Reforming Law to the Hydrocarbons Law. Said reform established that the State will receive for the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbon deposits, the participation from 50% to 99%, to 1% of the surplus of oil sale prices.
Ec. Jaime Carpio Amoroso against Industrias Guapán S.A.
Through resolution of May 27, 2009 of the Civil, Mercantile and Familiar Court of the National Court of Justice, it was declared unfounded the claim filed by Ec. Jaime Carpio Amoroso against Industrias Guapán S.A.
The Court ratified the criteria of other rulings issued by the highest Tribunal of Justice of our country in the sense that administrators of a stock company are free removal and may be removed without express cause.
The defendant was represented by Dr. Ernesto Guarderas Izquierdo, partner of our firm.
Mc. Donald`s Corporation vs. Olga Romero de la Torre
En el juicio seguido por la Compañía Mc.Donald´s Corporation en contra de la señora Olga Romero de la Torre, mediante sentencia dictada el 6 de mayo de 2008, por la Tercera Sala de lo Civil y Mercantil de la Corte Suprema de Justicia, (hoy Corte Nacional de Justicia) se da por concluido uno de los litigios más largos en la historia de nuestro Estudio Jurídico.
La demanda planteada el 11 de enero de 1981, en cuanto la señora Olga Romero tuvo por objeto el que se cerraran restaurantes bajo el nombre Mac. Donald´s abiertos por la demandada y se le condene al pago de daños y perjuicios.
